Oh Say Can You See!

Our neighborhood party starts at 3pm and I wanted to wish you all a Happy 4th of July! The weather here on the coast is cool and breezy so Mr. itsme has the fire pit all ready to light for the weenies (family) coming from Silicon Valley. There are John Phillips Sousa songs on satellite radio and we have fireworks and S'mores when it gets dark. All that's missing is a fly-over by the Blue Angels!

We're BBQing chicken, roasting corn; neighbors are bringing green salad, watermelon, garlic bread and roast asparagus. I made Cake pops (another post) for dessert. My sister in Las Vegas texted and said it's 98 degs and she's making homemade vanilla ice cream for their neighborhood party (my sister is the cake decorator) by the pool.

Life is good. This is what it's all about. So God bless America and all that jazz, Cha-cha-cha.

It's 96 degrees in upstate NY today. Whew! We're not used to this kinda weather.

We had a fun Independence Day weekend. It was laid back, totally relaxed, with good food, and just the two of us enjoying one another.

I find the older I get, the more alone time is needed. Cooking for friends and family for so many years has been replaced with intimate dinners for two and time to share innermost secrets. It's great to be free on many levels.

God bless all the service men and women who have fought for our right to be free.

Pam, it's a whole 70 degs right now. I think we only got to 62 today. This is THE REASON I live on the coast.

96, yowza, I'd be melting!

Yes, life IS good ItsMeCissy. I hate to brag about our great Northwest 4th of July celebration but: We went to a pool party with a hip DJ, outdoor dancing, and volleyball. The host had even prepared a guest room for our overnight accommodations. The party started promptly at 2:00pm. The rain started promptly at 2:15pm, and the afternoon temperatures soared to 62°. The radio announced that summer would begin on July 5th again this year, and we all agreed that our founding fathers should have mulled over this independence thing for another day or two. Only two people were brave (drunk) enough to jump (fall) into the pool. No one played volleyball, and everyone forgot to bring a copy of The Declaration of Independence for quiet reading and reflection. But, because we’re American’s we didn’t give up, and we didn't give in! A truck load of soggy fireworks were lit with a blow-torch, and the beer flowed like BP was trying to shut off the keg. When the party was over, we went to our room and found that somebody was already in our bed! We put our overnight case back in the car, informed our host that Goldilox needed a room much more than we did, and drove back home. (I don’t make this stuff up!)

On the plus side, we didn’t have to stop at any Afghan checkpoints along the way. God bless the U.S.of A.

If you'd have texted me on Sunday the 4th, I'd have told you it was 103 degrees. But..if you'd have texted me on Friday the 2nd, I'd have told you it was 115 degrees!

Thank goodness for that cooling trend! ;-)

God Bless America, the troops, my family, my friends, AND my pool & central air conditioning! =P

The coast is nice, but I love contrasts. You know, 96 degrees in the summer and ten degrees below zero in the winter. We folks here in upstate NY either want to wear no clothes at all or wear three layers.

Yikes, Randy! Those kinds of parties make one glad to be home.

lightly: Long time no hear. Great to read your comments. Thanks for wishing us a groovy 4th. We were fortunate to see some pretty spectacular fireworks from the backyard. Yes, life is good.
